There's a very very complicated and in depth 'leveling' system to soil which takes quite awhile to make much difference, but long story short harvesting certain crops in your field will permanently improve the stats of the soil (different amounts for different crops), this takes quite awhile and is rather complicated so if you wish to know more i'd read this (I imagine the rules are the same in RF5 as RF4 or at least extremely similar). The Aqua Sword's recipe is a lump of Silver and an Aquamarine. To illustrate this, let's take two Short Swords the Cutlass and the Aqua Sword. These recipes use a combination of specific items and required item classifications. You can use greenifiers to help level up crops to make unlocking level 10 seeds faster, and you can use the same boosting effects multiple times to stack the effects (use magnifying glass to see the changing speed, quality, health, etc after you apply changes) There are eight classes of weapons in Rune Factory 4 and each of them has a bevy of recipes to learn and use. You can also feed certain crystals to the dragons to improve the fields for awhile. You can use certain chemicals to affect the quality (greenifier), speed (formula a/b), etc of the fields, but doing so can also reduce the health. To improve the 'health' of the soil you can leave it unplanted for awhile, or put weeds/grasses in the fertilizer bin, or place certain things (specifically withered grass, corn, and 4 leaf clovers) on the ground and hit them with a hoe to fertilize the 2x2 field and raise it's health. If you hold a Magnifying Glass you can 'inspect' the soil which will tell you the stats of each 2x2 patch. If you sell a higher level seed (I think a higher level crop works as well), you can then purchase seeds from the shop that are the same level which you sold them, meaning to level up seeds you can sickle the grown crop, sell the level 2 seed, buy level 2 seeds, sickle the level 2 crop for a level 3 seed to sell, and repeat. Another strategy for getting level 10 crops before having the platinum tools: Use Greenifier/Greenifier+ on a patch of soil until its Quality rating is over 1.00, preferably at its max of 2.00. Aaron and Aria can craft the Super Sickle using the workshop at Alvarna Academy. It is called Love Sickle (, Aij no Kama) in Rune Factory 5. Seeds can get up to level 10, the easiest way to level up seeds is to use a Sickle (better sickles can get higher level seeds, sickling a crop gives a seed 1 level higher than the crop if your sickle is good enough). Super Sickle (, Wazamono no Kama) is an item in the Rune Factory series. You will need the Forge and associated license also. Once you've used your tools enough and have a high enough level you will learn recipes for the better versions via the Farm Bread. Amber, Kiel, Fuuka, Cecil) are banned, no matter the stance. Assuming you mean upgrade as in better versions to do more with, you'll need to buy Farm Bread from Porocoline. Doing this action to your crops will only get you the seeds of that crop and not actually harvest anything. Unless, of course, you get the seed higher with Greenifier instead. For example, the Cheap Sickle you start with can only give up to level 3. This should always be 1 level higher, but every Sickle tier will pretty much have its own cap. Equip your sickle and face a plant then press B to hack away. If you use a Sickle, you cut the crop, missing out on it, but are guaranteed to get seeds. Expensive items can be upgraded with a piece of iron or something to boost value. Selling gear - obtained in chests and/or dungeons. Alternatively, you can use this to cut up your crops and gain seeds from each patch you cut. Mining - All but later in the game when ore like emerald, Sapphire, etc become available, they can be farmed daily for a decent profit. Like it predecessors, RF4 has 6 types of primary tools that can be upgraded as the player gains skill in forging and gathers materials. Use Cheap Sickle to cut weeds and plants.
